Thumbs down Hyundai "ADM" Stickers. WTF! *Updated 9-15-12 with Picture*

I was out riding my motorcycle this afternoon and and I stopped at my local Hyundai dealer to check out the new vehicles on the lot.

Every new Hyundai on the lot had a dealer installed "ADM" (additional dealer markup) sticker on it that raised the price almost $4K dollars.

For example, I looked at a 2013 Hyundai Accent. It had plastic hubcaps and it listed for $16.5K The "ADM" additional dealer markup sticker had pinstripes and a few other dealer installed options. The "ADM" sticker added almost $4K to the sticker price so the price was bumped up to a little over $20K for a frickin' Accent!!! Please, tell me that people are not stupid enough to fall for that kind of crap!
Of course, I could be wrong and there will a long line of people waiting outside the dealership's front door on Monday morning who are just dying to pay thousands over MSRP for the thrill of owning a new Hyundai Accent.

I can understand an "ADM' sticker on a hot, hard to find car like a Shelby Mustang or something like that, but not on a stupid base model Accent or EVERY new Hyundai on the lot.

Huyndai is making some damn nice cars these days, but this type of crap by their dealers is pissing off a lot of people I would assume. Do all Hyundai dealers do this?

If I WERE in the market for a new Hyundai, I would tell them that as far as price is concerned, I work UP from less than invoice, not DOWN from an overinflated sticker that is $4K over the MSRP. I know that this is a business and the dealer is entitled to make a fair profit on every new vehicle they sell, but give me a frickin' break!!

$16,545 then add a cargo net, some pinstripes, and a chrome rear tag and end up with a price of $20,204.90. THOSE HAD BETTER BE SOME DAMN NICE PINSTRIPES!!!!

This kind of markup on a 2013 Accent is flat-out crazy!!

Wow, 20% mark up on an Accent? If they can get people to still buy that car then good for them. I'd hope most people would shop around and know what the msrp was.

When I see add-a-tags, I chuckle and go to a different dealership. My Ford dealer put a $10,000 markup tag on a Boss 302, which is odd because they're not trying to rape anyone on the ST they just got in. I guess they know their customer base and who'll pay extra.

I bought my wife a 2013 Accent SE hatchback a week ago today. The problem with a accent is, at least the high end models, are really hard to find. We bought ours on Monday, the dealership got it on Saturday. It was the only one on the lot with an automatic and the only one with bluetooth. The next closes one was at a dealership 2 states away.

There was no markup on the car, they didnt even have time to do that worthless VIN etching that every Ford dealer in this state does.

And the reason for the Accent. We test drove the Fiesta, which she loved. The Ford dealer wouldnt give us a good deal at all though. And this would have been my 3rd purchase from them in 2 years and I sent them 2 referras a couple months ago.

I brought her the Hyundai dealer, which she was completely against. She fell in love with the car as soon as she saw it and test drove it. We ended up leasing it becasue with the lease payment and the residual at the end, if we decide to buy out the car at the end of the lease we will have paid MSRP for the car.

Ford dealer in my town is doing that to the ST. $5,000 ADA markup, $950 for various things like undercoating, dealer installed moonroof, etc. Didn't think a dealer would cut a hole in a brand new car, also I thought all ST2's had a moon roof. They are bigger lair's and thieves than the OP's Hyundai dealer.

The 2013 Accent SE hatchback is a damn nice vehicle. I just have a problem with some of their dealers actions.

None of the Ford dealers around me do this on any vehicles unless they are Shelby Mustangs or anything like that.

True, they do add stuff like pinstripes, undercoating, pain sealant, ect., but they don't have a line on the on the dealer added sticker that says:

Additional Dealer Markup------------------$3,000.

I have only seen those at Kia and Hyundai dealerships in my area.
