2013 Focus Ti Amp Factory Sound Processing

My installer just told me that the amp in my 2013 FF Ti acts as a processor and can't be removed if I want to retain fade/balance/bass/treble/etc. He wants to keep it in there along with my aftermarket amp. I haven't heard anything about this on the forum. Anyone have experience removing the amp or know anything about this?
