I would imagine that the purpose would be to go jogging or cycling with your keys locked in the car, but I also though that the Ti doesnt let you lock your keys in the car.

The Escape, along with the Taurus, has capacitive buttons on the door frame itself I believe. Totally different from the add on piece that Ford sells

You could probably get a add on keypad to work as long as you don't have the keyfob with you when you approach the car, but then why? You could just throw the fob in your pocket and forget about it, or use the fob to unlock the doors remotely before you go out to the car.

I'm looking into it more of if the key falls out of my pocket or I leave it in the cup holder. But now that I think about it, how would I lock the car if it was in it

I just purchased my car early last week and was wondering if you can unlock all of the doors without using the button on the key or having to use the button inside the car?
I have the 2012 Titanium with the Intelligent key. |

Yes you can, when you place your hand on the outside door handle (like your going to open the door) and you have the IA key fob on your person the doors will unlock, all 4 of them. Just make sure you don't touch the black square on the outside of the handle with your thumb as that locks all 4 doors.

Really? because so far every time I have given anyone a ride I have had to press the button on the dash a few times to let them in.
Again just got it so I am still learning some of this new tech stuff. I thought that would just unlock the door you were opening. |

Yeah , if your sitting in the car. But when you approach the car, you just need to stick your hand into the handle on the outside of the car and it unlocks all 4 doors.
