Went to the store...

Went to the local Advanced Auto Parts and picked up some stuff.

Got Meguiar's NXT Tech Wax 2.0, Meguiar's Smooth Surface Clay Kit, and Meguiar's Polishing Compound.

Going to wash, clay, polish, and wax the car in the morning.

Anyone have experience with any of these products?

Will post photos of results...

How long have you had the car? Unless the surface is really bad I would just claybar and wax or be real careful with the polishing compound since it might not be needed on newer paint unless you got swirls and color imperfections and make sure you apply and remove it by hand and you'll be good.

I clayed and waxed (Meguires' goodies) my car about a month after I had it and got awesome results and will do it at least once a year in the spring.

Hey thanks for the tip man. Ill just stick to clay and wax this go around, and save the polish for another time.

If your car was prepped by your dealer you have swirls and marring already.

I would polish it out...

Tech Wax is a mediocre product at best. There's much better stuff out there.

polishing compound might be too harsh, maybe use a less aggressive polish. You could also take some pictures and post them and we can see what the paint looks like

meguiars polishing compound is some of the least abrasive polish on the market.

Also, show some direct sunlight shots of that red focus....

^^^

Thats not direct sunlight...

^^ that is direct sunlight. Direct sunlight will normally show MOST major and minor imperfections.

Aka.. your car most likely has swirls on it if all you did was clay and wax. Clay in itself will cause minor micro-marring..

^ really wanted to post that exact thing but being that I've been called a "know it all" I held my tongue.

But you're 100% right.

Gotcha',I don't think I took direct sunlight pics but that was back in early June and since just from washing I do have a little swirling happening as of now but it's so hard to prevent that and will get clayed and polished next spring. The paint was less than 6 weeks old when I clayed it so it was pretty swirl free at that point but it's nearly imposssible to keep it perfect with real world driving and several washes a month.
