You're mistaking imperial gallons with U.S. gallons. (Canadians are supposed to know the difference).

The correct conversion is $1.36 x 3.79 = $5.15/us gal. Still not cheap, yet not a number that fills ones pants with solid matter as quickly.

Why does the U.S. have their own gallon separate from the original UK gallon? Probably just the American thing to do I would imagine.

1.289 a liter here.
Aka $4.45/us gal

At 140 miles a day I'm sure you can guess why I bought a car to drive rather than my 15 mpg truck lol.

Out here in the ultra redneck location of Edmonton, AB lots of people drive their trucks anyway. "Air haulers" a friend of mine calls them. Because they only ever use the box to haul around air day to day and maintain their image.

I imagine the mentality must amount to something like "I can't drive a car or someone will think I'm gay/have a small cock."

Haha well in Manitoba high paying jobs like in Alberta aren't as easy to find.

Still have my truck, and will drive it in winter when the roads are bad.

Other than that its now a work/play truck.

Same I have a truck as well but only really being used for a cruise every now and then or when I need the bed/towing - was $1.49/l ($5.639? per gallon) this weekend for gas!

$2.49/gallon on Easter here.
26.45MPG highway back and forth to family on E-85. Or about $0.09/mile.

Gasoline I'd get about 31MPG, @$3.48 that would be $0.11/mile.
So in 300 miles I save about $6.
In a year @15,000 miles, about $30.

Not significant in any way. But I'm not really loosing money on switching either. The longer I figure the more it becomes a null equation.

I have for 5 years, and will continue to.
If you don't want to, up to you.
I don't push my choice of fuel on others or expect anyone to change. And I expect others to respect my choice of fuel as I do theirs.

Wow $1 per gallon difference.
Here in MI the e85 / 87 price difference is typically $0.50 or less (usually $0.25-0.30 cheaper then 87) which doesn't even make sense to throw it in the tank.
