Houston, TX Focus Owner Looking For Mechanic

Hey guys, i'm brand new to tinkering around with my '09 Focus and I just bought the stage 2 turbo from Fswerks. I was curious if anyone could give me any information on mechanics in the Houston area, I live near downtown but I don't mind a drive. Thanks in advance!

ohhhh stage 2 second gen interesting hmmm well i don't know if any of the houston crew has worked on turbo's before but there are a few of us who are great on working on cars... im sure there is someone willing to help but i am one who is not to spectacular with cars haha sounds like a meet and greet with turbo install to mee woohoo

Yeah, It took a lot of saving and money so i'm pretty excited.
That would be pretty sweet, either way i'm sure someone will pop up with a mechanic eventually.

GUH!? That's awesome! You have to let us see it, also it would make you the envy of all 3 of us second gen guys. What part of downtown you live in? I live near north loop in the Heights, there are a ton of us here in Houston and we all love working on cars, I personally would love to get my hands on a turbo or help install one, there is a guy in Lousiana that just did a turbo install on his 2nd gen and we might be able to get his help or get him down here for an install day if he's up for it. His screen name is Slammed_2.0, talked with him a few times really cool dood. Hit him up for some info.

Anyway, you should come out to some of the meets that go down every month, the next one is the K1 go kart meet on the 25th. A whole bunch of us are going out to it and it's always fun to meet new peeps.

There is a place that one of our other members took his car to for tuning and installing his supercharger .... may need to give that guy a call and find out where he got it installed. That was close to League City.

And years back in 04, a performance shop in the Westpark area installed a Turbo on an SVT Focus.

I can check.

And yes, none of the Houston guys have installed any FI on any of our cars, so us working on it would be a bit new to it as you.

If you decide to go to a reputable performance shop, I would make sure they can dyno tune your car with your tuner that you got from FSWerks. It would be a hassle and cost you more if you didn't have the tuner that they need to tune your car after installing the FI.

Make sure you have a base tune ready to go. If you just install it don't drive it till the tune is ready to go. Even if you don't get into boost you could still run it lean which means boom to the engine. Personally I wouldn't take it anywhere to install it, I would just do it myself. Can't imagine it would be too hard to install. Probably take a day or two.

unfortunently, i dont know any shops off top of my head that do turbo's on Focus's, but then again, ive always turbo'd my vehicle's myself....

hmmmm, let me look up 2 shops, they might be able to help u, or at least send u in right direction..... i know a couple of the guys at one of the shops....

I'm amazed at the reception. I have been sorta on the down low, mainly while I was saving money to put into my car. Now i'm pumped to get this turbo in then start putting my own touch on the car. I will definitely try to make it out to the meetup, and if any of you guys find those mechanic #'s a PM would be greatly appreciated!
