Rock Auto CV Axles

Hey all,

Anybody use any of the brands of CV axle offered by Rock Auto (aside from OEM)? I got some quotes from local auto parts stores (AZ, Carquest, NAPA) and the Rock Auto brands all have them beat. Never heard of any of them though. Are any of these brands (APWI, EMPI, Cardone, Surtrack) worth it?

I have an EMPI in the passenger side, stock fell to pieces at 70K miles. It looked good new, it's not like I removed the boots to inspect the CV joints but it installed easily and is working fine 4K miles later. I like that it's a new part, not reman and no core exchange necessary. I believe some of the reman companies require the core in advance and that doesn't make any sense if it's your only vehicle.

Cardone is probably the most well known, and I guess some would say reputable, brand on your short list BTW.

Yeah, the remans ones all come with core charges... NAPA gave me the best quote for 'em ($58 each) but then the core charge was greater than the price of the part ($68 each). They said I could bring back the old ones after I installed the reman ones, but if I didn't bring them back completely encased in the provided box I would not get the core charge back. Seemed like too much of a hassle.

After some internet research I've found there doesn't seem to be much of a consensus on the best aftermarket CV axles. Might have to take a chance on some of the new ones from Rock Auto and see how they turn out.

I purchased a duralast from autozone for 59.00 + 10.00 core. Holding up and easy install once old one is removed.

I installed a new one from rockauto on my old car. It went on just fine and held up for two years before I sold it this spring. Can't remember the brand but it was cheap. Half the price napa quoted.

Cardone is the brand that Oreilly's usually carries (guessing you don't have one of them since you did not list them). Looks like Advanced Auto also uses them.

They are also a U.S. based company (which is good) and use to be partners with Delphi before going public in 2006. its a good company.
