Svt short ram intake?
Has anyone ran the weapon r "secret weapon" intake on their svt?
If so, tell me what you think. What short ram do you find best for the svt? |

I have the K&N Typhoon short ram and I really like it. The car feels a little bit "torque-ier". There is a really nice growl added to the intake sound.
I can't speak for this weapon r short ram but I am sure it will give similar results. -sbc

If you like a louder sound, just remove the little snorkel on the drivers side of the air box, other than that short rams have no other benefit and will only cause bogging when it's warm. Dyno test have proved over and over that the Cosworth engineered intake is about as good as it gets for these cars!

yes if you want sound pull the side snorkel and toss in a better flowing panel filter. anything else is pretty much a waste.

Biggest gains in air temperature are from removing the hump on the front shroud before the snorkel. Having it there is a holdover from stock, where it improves mileage by keeping the air intake warm due to the radiator being right there.

Actually, the debris hump was kept in place and the area between the hump and snorkel was cut out.

Honestly, stick with the stock and just toss a good filter in it. It will sound a bit nicer, and wont be affected by heat-soak as much as a short ram.

I recently got the K&N Typhoon SRI installed and I rikey! The heat soak thing everyone is stating can be avoided if you have the cash to ceramic coat your stock header's combined with heat wrap to reduce under hood temps.
SRI - less bends/less restrictions. Air is similiar to water in that it will go down the path of LEAST resistance. ;) *Also, I am picking up my CFM 67MM throttle body today! =o SRI is king. Last edited by _Auricom_; 09-11-2012 at 01:19 PM. Reason: too many typo's noob |

^^ sorry but no. all you have picked up is sounds. its been proven on dyno's with the svtf that cai's or sri's really dont do much.
jsut becasue your ssri has one bend. it still has to draw air from over the transmisson, under the battery box, around the hood edges nearby, etc. the stock svt airbox essesntially has 3" piping anyways
