Exhaust is not going to change the a/f and the intake systems are designed to be non tune required; the cars might benefit with a dyno tune but at the most I would say they would gain is 10 hp and that it not worth the price of the handheld tuner/dyno time/price of 93 octane.

A custom tune with I/H/E should net you much more than 10 HP, but the handheld tuners are mostly made for intake only and indeed won't give you that much extra power. You can get a lot of extra NA power out of a 2.0L 4 with more aggressive cams, long-runner IM, long-tube cat-less header and a custom dyno tune. Whether or not anyone will ever make any of that for this engine remains to be seen. FWIW - Honda's K20 can push 260+ WHP NA.

People are already seeing close to 20hp gains with intake and exhaust without a tune... So... I'd hope there is more to be had with a tune.

The only way to make more power is to add timing until the engine stops making power and to lean out the a/f....until someone can tap into the Ford fuel trim maps, write programs to adjust them and then make them available to the public...well.....might be a while....companies are not going to invest that much money into the R&D unless they feel the market would support it and I am not sure the average Focus owner would be willing to pay for the tune, pay for the tuning device, pay the additional money for 93 octane and then not bitch about ther reduced MPG.
