Is my 2.0 GDI the same without having Ti-VCT?

I bought my SE thinking I had the same engine for mods as any focus in the line. Did I goof as much as I did when I had my 2.0 SPI compared to the Zetec?

Further is this engine known to have a vibration at idle? I'm 6.5k in, mentioned it at an oil change and was dismissed as it being normal for the engine.

All 2012's have the same engine except the electric, of course, so you have the ti-vct. Not sure about the vibration. I get it sometimes with th ac on, but its not super noticable.

There's been a lot of discussion about vibration at idle, and it seems to be common. As SterlingArcher mentioned, it seems worse with A/C on.

X2. I've done a lot to try and make mine go away (octane, filter, mounts, etc.) and it always comes back. I'm pretty sure it's just characteristic of the engine.

Thanks good to know about the engine. And also reassuring with the idle being common. I haven't had a trip yet where I could have the A/C off completely, since it's been scorching hot since I bought the car. Makes sense if A/C makes it more noticeable!

My guess is the diesel-like compression ratio causes some diesel-like characteristics.

I agree. The direct injection does rattle a bit.

I was told that the rough idle is due to the engine being tuned for efficiency to use less gas at idle than a conventional engine. Not sure if it's true, just what I've been told by Ford rep.
Also, it seems to be more noticeable when I have under a 1/4 tank of fuel for some reason.

The DI on my new '12 Focus rattles just the same as the DI on my '06 Audi A4. I'm guessing the Ford Engineers using the A3 as a benchmark took it too seriously :D :D

I drove mine this morning for the first time with the A/C switched off and noticed a slight vibration at idle.
When I turn on the A/C it picks up the idle speed slightly and the vibration (or slightly rough idle) goes away.
