I'm a huge movie and surround sound buff..whats your setup?

Man there's nothing more like the sensation of watching the matrix...in hd surround sound cranking subwoofer kickin LOL. But it's not just the matrix it's any of the indiana jones movies id4 star wars alien......anything that has a awesome drum and string line. Tell me do you guys have something that'll shake your house? Me well I'm just running off a jvc HTIAB "home theatre in a box"which is acting up so I'm going to be getting a nice used onkyo reciever from a friend who repairs them.

Yamaha 7.1 receiver (only running in 5.1), Pioneer floor speakers (front) BIC America center channel, Polk Audio bookshelf speakers (rear). Sony 8" powered subwoofer from a HTIB (eBay). I live in an apartment so I can't have a huge subwoofer.

Sent from my HTC EVO 4G LTE

We have our "theater" in our lower living room and it's a nice tight 12'x15' and coupled to the Sony Bravia 46" LCD I have a Sony STR-DH810 receiver and Energy Take Classic matched speakers and powered subwoofer. Nothing special but it's enough to overpower the room and rattle things abit.

Best $400 I spent on the system.

Like I said I'm on a jvc POS LOL probabaly gonna get fixed up with a pioneer unsure what unit and a passive sub because the sub channel on that unit has it's own power supply. I'm going to keep my current dcm cinema 1's which have 7.1 channels, yeah a little to big for my room but oh well LOL.

I couldn't find another thread about home audio and I've been doing some work on mine recently and wanted to share.

TV: TCL Brand (Owns RCA) 46" LED LCD 120hz
Receiver: Yamaha 5.1 RX-V373BL
Speakers: Polk Audio R300
Plus Apple TV (1080p) and Xbox 360 (POS Edition)

I recently rearranged the living room in preparation for new furniture and also painted the TV stand from silver and glass to a dark walnut frame and black glass shelves. Included in the move was improved cable management as well. I'm pretty pleased with it.

2 channel only for me. I get theater quality sound or better from it. I run Toslink audio out of the TV in the preamp and go with that. I'm more about quality than effects. No sub needed and the Infinity's can more than handle it. 200RMS-TRUE RMS(ADCOM Power amp) not that fake number crap they put on most stuff nowadays. At some point I will go to 10.1 in wall/ceiling speakers from B&W/Infininty but that is not a priority.

My Samsung 40" smart TV is plenty big enough for now. I have a projector but not sure if I am going to install it. When the wife finally makes it here and she says the 40" is not big enough for the wall, then it will go to the bedroom and we will look for another TV.

New price for my system, back in the day, was around $15,000. So not what I paid for it.

Kappa 8 without cover

Still waiting on parts left in Germany to get here to set it up completely.

Yamaha MX1000 preamp
ADCOM 555 II power amp
Infinity Kappa 8 Series II
AR Toslink optical
Monster 300 series RCA
AT&T HD DVR
B&W 0 gauge quad strand speaker cables

Lots more for cassette and CD audio
