$26...bit of duct tape...a clamp and 5 mins gets you started.....need to check OD of intake tube and fitment of the filter. Remove top of airbox and old filter...install new filter.

My filter TUBE has a 3.5" OD...same as intake tube...ID of filter tube is LESS than plastic intake tube....this MIGHT be why it works?

Have since reduced the amount of foam used under the filter...it now only supports just the end of the filter. Also cleaned and re-oiled the filter.

Not sure this is the same filter I have....probably same brand though....you'd want one with a 3.5" OD for the rubber filter tube to duplicate the setup I have.

Yes...this pulls some warmer air...not an issue for me...I drive for mpgs....currently seeing ~37 mpg tank to tank...combo of driving techniques and various mods.

this is basically a home made short ram intake. Looks like you blocked off a little bit of your snorkle intake from the stock airbox location

This is something quite common with cars for a while especially zetecs and spis. I hope you didn't get a cheap filter, they usually allow bad crap to be sucked in, and trust me it gets real dirty in there. The extra 10-15 bucks is worth it for a k&n/AEM filter. Why the duct tape? Before I bought a full intake system I just clamped mines without tape to the maf sensor housing. The MPG is probably because your previous filter was dirty.

I see you get 37mpg. I have the same car you have and i only get 25-28 mpg. I drive far for work all highway miles. Can you give me ideas how to get better gas mileage?

replace the plugs, wires, use synthetic oil, get a itc filter or fswerks intake, exhaust.

The trick with the above is staying off the Gas because with the exhaust and intake you will like the sound of your car better.

and then use cruse control and go 65MPH or so, commute if you can to avoid rush hour (either leave earlier or much later). Keep the RPM's under 3k, go with a skinny tire when you need to replace them. Shed unwanted weight (is it worth a little extra MPG if you have to use your insurances free tow service to get the flat fixed?) Roll windows down when going under 40ish MPH and only use the vents (no AC) when at Freeway speeds. Proper tire pressure, only keep the tank 1/2 or 1/4 full so your carrying around less weight...

there are lots of things that can be done in addition to the tune up. it all depends on crazy you want to get.

so for what everr reason my car grts like 19 a gallon with 20to 25 reachable some times but not all the 'time i got a magnaflow and a volant so far idk what else though i dont really shift that high maybe 2100 at most....after i bought the cari found that some one cut a whole in the cat for what ever reason cauld this cause bad mpg if its just open or actually clogged or something

There's probably a family of rats or something that chewed into the cat haha jk but anyway the same thing happens to me. I only get like twenty to 24 mpg and I'm always under 3k rpm and all highway driving. Just got new tires. Car afford anything more than half a tank of gas at a time haha and just got a tune up plus MAC INTAKE and Trubendz borla
