Data Logging

I am interested in data logging my cars and I was looking for opinions on what is best. I am not interested in chipping/flashing, more on the diagnostic side of things. I saw this product

and it looks like what I am interested in. I would like one that is universal so if I change cars to another manufacturer I can still use it. Are there any other similar products out there? Am I barking up the wrong tree? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Moved you to the ECu tuning area sorry. I misread your post and thought you were asking about tuning and flashing. Kinda of missed the word not.

As for the program you asking about I have no knowledge or opinion on it since you can get all sorts of scanners for cars now. Some have data logging features but majority of us buy flashers with tunes and just data log using them. Hopefully someone else will have more knowledge about this than I do.

One thing you'll find is that to get a good tool to datalog you'll have to spend money.
For instance, I have ScanXL standard from Palmer Performance --> http://www.palmerperformance.com/pro...lstd/index.php
Problem is for the things I wanted to datalog, they aren't SAE PID's. They are Ford specific. So I had to also buy the Ford Module add-on, an extra $90. But now I can datalog everything.

Now add up those costs and compare that to a used SCT Xcal. You'll find that your best option is to buy a used Xcal and download the free LiveLink datalogging software. The advantage is that LiveLink does not require any add-on's or extra money.

It does not matter is the Xcal is locked or not. All of them can datalog the same.
