Yes and I think you'll get the lowest possible rate by keeping the account funded and having them snatch the loot directly out of the account every month. The one I'm a member of currently has 1.99% @ 72 mos.

Looked at a local CU, their rate is 3.39 for 72, would be a PITA to deposit funds into that acct each month, my bank has 3.99 for 72, not that much of a difference. I could goto the dealer with the blank check from my bank and use it if they can't do any better on my rate

I know it's history now but the dealer wanted 24k for my 06 and I got them down to 17,400. Pretty sure I raped them.

Ha! That's not sayin' much man. I'm sure the dealer would've loved to have gotten $50k for my Focus but I only gave 'em $18.2k! The question is what was sticker on it.

Take all the cash you can get up front off the price of the car, pit dealers against each other for the lowest price and finance through a Credit Union at a low rate. Interest rates are really low right now, I got 2.4% on my Escape and a fellow at work got 1.9% on a 2009 Mercedes from the same CU.

Update: only heard from one dealer which I find is very strange that an Internet manager wouldn't email me back. Anyway the one dealer that responded is offering 3200 off the sticker and says he can beat my banks 3.99 for 72. He also said they'd give me fair trade in for my trade. I made them very informed of what kbb and edmunds says my car is worth and asked for a number nineteen those two.
They seem very cooperative at the moment and I'll probably make the 3 hour trek there next Sat. So I'll kelp you guys updated as thugs happen. Thanks for all the tips. Anyone want to chime in on a price for an extended warranty? |

Go to www.royobrien.com and browse the new car stock to find one like your potential purchase. The pricing listed is 'A Plan' which is typically 3% below invoice. You can view the vehicle stickers as well. Keep in mind that 'invoice' includes dealer holdback. I do not expect you to be able to negotiate to 'A Plan' (employee) pricing but it makes for a nice indicator for rock bottom pricing on the car. |

keep in mind that you can get to invoice before the cash rebates. We just got our 2012 sticker was about 27,500 and we got it for about 22,500 with 2.9% over 72 months and 300 over what we owed on our one year old trade. Invoice on ours was about 24,500. xplan was about 25000 and a/d plan was about 24000. I feel we got a great deal.
All this being said, if the dealer knows you're driving 3 hours to get to them they already know they have the upper hand. |
