This little thing till amazes me. When I use it on manual settings it is as good as some older DSLR's and has the best macro I have ever seen in a point and shoot.

The fundamental difference between a Point and Shoot and a dSLR has to do with the size of the sensor.

The main reason for this (and there are many as we’ll see below) is that the image sensor used in point and shoot digital cameras is generally much smaller than the image sensor used in a DSLR (the difference is often as much as 25 times). This means that the pixels on a point and shoot camera have to be much smaller and (without getting too technical) collect fewer photons (ok I lied about the technicalities). The long and short of it is that because of this point and shoot cameras need to work at slower ISO levels which means that they produce ‘noisier’ (or more grainy) shots.

yes, I know but for what it is it works great. Which is why I compared it to an older DSLR, like three or four generations ago. The only place this camera really suffers is indeed the low light performance. But it still isn't bad. Plus, I really bought it for only two reasons, OK three, first was the macro, second was the much longer than average focal length on the lens, and third was the smallish size for what it is. I take it along on motorcycle rides and throw it in my car semi permanently. I have four pro Canon bodies, and a semi pro DSLR and eventually will get a real pro DSLR, probably a 5D MKIII.

Ah. I assumed you knew nothing about cameras...

I've only used a handful of different cameras. My Canon Rebel XS which is a base model dSLR absolutely blew away my Canon SX120IS (which was top of the line when I bought it) in every single aspect. There was no comparison at all.

There are a few reasons for that. The 120is is a 1/5in imager single chip CMOS type sensor, that has a claimed pixel count of 10.0mp, BUT, Canon gets to that pixel count on their consumer cameras with what is called interpolation. That means they have fewer pixels than they say and interpolate the pixels processing to get it to "look like" a 10.0 mp image....but it really doesn't. While a nice point and shoot, it isn't as good as mine, but mine is still a point and shoot consumer camera.

BTW knowing about imagers (chips) is part of my business, I am a broadcast television engineer and a Broadcast Systems integrator. And I have been shooting film, and video professionally for 30 years. I am not really technically a pro photographer, but the cameras are far closer in technology than ever before. Save for video cameras process the video as video instead of how the DSLR processes it. and at a higher bit rate.

Not any good ones, I just got it a couple months ago and have done the wheels, tyres, and those stripes I put on myself. I will try and take some good ones this weekend. And thanks!

That looks really nice! Have you thought about continuing the carbon and red down the wheel arches to the door protector?

It won't look right. I like the short stripes and toyed with it that way in P shop and it looked goofy. I might wrap the door guards in the same stuff though... The rear wing I want is also got an insert albeit real carbon fibre. BTW when I did the stripes in p shop it looked like a Boss 302 Focus! LOL!
