Just took an ST test drive...

So, as I just mentioned in the price/deals thread... I just test drove a silver ST3 after my '12 SEL was done being serviced.

Man... I love it. Bar none the best feeling manual transmission I've felt from the factory. It was smooth, easy to engage, but still had a stiff, sporty feel to it. I don't even think I'd ever bother with any shifter mods.

Still super quiet, which I almost DON'T like, can't really hear the revs unless you get on it and the sound symposer starts feeding the intake sound into the cabin, but I'm sure I'd come to appreciate having no drone on the highway like my Mazdaspeed 3 did.

Oh, and I guess this is new for the 2013 models but I like the 5th option on the gauge cluster LCD that shows all 4 parameters on one screen, LOVING that.

Overall, I'm sold. I need to crunch the numbers, get a bit more money into my current loan before trading in, and get myself a new toy!

I want to! Just need to get a decent chunk of change together for a down payment, go in and do some negotiating and figure out whether or not I have to order one or if they can find one. We shall see.

To avoid the negative equity, or at least to mitigate it I would suspect.

This, it's essentially just going to all end up as part of the down payment anyway, but I figure rather than put it away, I'll just pay down more of the loan. I imagine doubling up on my payment will look good as far as credit is concerned.

Luckily, the trade-in value is already more than I owe, but I don't have enough for a sizable down payment to keep monthly payments the same or in the same ballpark on the ST, so a few months of waiting has to happen.

Who knows... maybe the "2014s" will be out, I keep seeing images (probably pre-release 2013 images though) of the ST2s with the ST3 style center console without heated seat controls (just the small change tray or whatever you use it for like the basic SELs were in 2012), and with a little ST design on the shifter trim.

I would love to trade in my 2013 Titanium on a ST..but the upside down would be too much.....if my DCT does not get corrected I may just accept the loss and get a ST....or painfully wait for equity..

I would, but I love the practicality of 4 doors and a hatchback. I tend to feel safer when I'm driving (as I suspect most people are) and I routinely have several people with me, so the Mustang utility capabilities or lack thereof just don't suit me currently.

Plus... the ST just hooked me from the second I got into it the other day, haha
