Rocker panel rust repair

Both sides of my Focus are rusting "inside-out" in the rocker panels. Has anyone had these replaced / painted at a bodyshop? I took the car to a local bodyshop and the guy quoted me $1500 PER SIDE! My response was "put down the bong, dude". Anyone have a ballpark figure on what a reasonable quote for this repair would be? I would be looking at removal/replacement/painting. Thanks.

The price sounds about right, maybe on the high side, but it doesn't sound shocking. It would cost me $600 to have a small crack on my bumper repaired and painted. In your case add in metalwork (x2) and it can get expensive.

I had a rust problem on my Mustang that I could've had fixed for about $3k and that was with a lot of DIY prep work. I could've used my money to fix it, but I was better off getting a car without rust.
