I find the Focus Titanium to be almost the ideal balance between sportiness and comfort. It does great on twisty roads and is a nearly perfect daily driver. It is fun to rev the engine, and the DCT is great for spirited driving.

I do find the interiors of the two cars to be on the same level. The C-Max is more Escape than Focus interior wise, but still similar. I miss having a real tachometer, but it is pointless in a hybrid. The best way to describe the C-Max is a cross between a Focus and Escape. It allows me to not own an SUV/CUV for at least 3-5 more years. Hopefully there is a Grand C-Max or S-Max in the US by then.
How does the space with the seats down compare between focus hatch and cmax?

Ford says about 20% more room in the C-Max. It feels much larger with the seats down than the hatchback. The C-Max is a foot taller than the Focus hatch and has seats that fold down much easier. In Europe, you can get a C-Max where the back seats have 60/40 sliding adjustment and removal.

In the real world, the C-Max has about a third more room than the hatchback with seats folded. I filled our hatchback with 25 bags of mulch last summer, which was enough to make a guy with a Flex impressed. Hopefully I can get 32-33 in the C-Max next summer (I hope I don't need that much mulch).

I love the measurement units. It's amazing how much space seats themselves take up. My GF had a pt cruiser and while the car was a giant piece of turd, the rear seats were really easily removable and it gave the back tons of space.
