And then I got T-boned. Because of a stupid technicality, I was cited, even though the guy who hit me was attempting to run a very late yellow at well above the speed limit. She was totaled, and I had no help from my insurance, as I'm a poor college student who can't afford collision.

And then the work began. 6 people and a sawzall made a light job of taking the interior out. This photo is about a month in, completely stripped and without the engine.

This was actually taken on 6/1/13, as this is VERY much still an ongoing project. Got the seats in today, finishing up the coilovers tomorrow, and putting the exhaust on as well.

Now, there is no windshield in this picture, but it's on there now! Like I said, this is very much still an active project, and we're doing work almost faster than I can document!

And a bit of backstory here. This car is actually already on it's second engine. I replaced the engine because ~5k miles after I bought it, the stop-leak the dealer put in it stopped working, and I started blowing blue smoke because oil was leaking past the o-rings. So, I got an engine from a junkyard with 1k miles on it. Got it back from the shop, it wasn't right. Found out the shop didn't put all the bolts back in the bellhousing, cross threaded the header on, and re-installed a cracked PCV valve. Got that fixed by a shop who knew cars, and 2 months later, the alternator went out. 2 months later, I got t-boned. Any normal person would have called it quits after the wreck. But, I'm not normal.

What you're seeing here isn't just a car, as cliche as this may sound. This is the accumulative product of a dozen people, putting in countless combined hours on weekends, some on weekdays, and even some after the sun's gone down but there's still just that one bolt left. And all for a few slices of free pizza and to learn a bit more about their cars. This car is a product of the whole Northwest Focus Fanatics group, more or less. Building it has taught me so much, and has made me some really great friends. There have definitely been some silver linings to wrecking the car! Now, for the modifications...

Just realized I never put a picture of the empty frame in there! That beige frame was completely bare. Just a roll cage in some metal shaped like a focus. Even the wiring harness had been cut off at most locations, so it was basically just a focus frame. We transfered everything still functioning over from the wrecked car, replacing parts I needed from the junkyard or wherever as we realized we needed them. Also, we deleted the AC because racecar, and who needs that junk in WA anyway? lol.

The parts from the old car include, and are not limited to:
Rear subframe
Fuel system
Dash and trim
Wheels (one needed replacing after the crash)
Sunroof (no longer functional, as the roll bar is in the way. But, its a nice skylight now!)
AEM Wideband A/f Gauge

Also, got an ST (1st gen) exhaust to replace the stock exhaust. I'll keep listing things as I remember what I've done lol

Yeah... To add insult to injury, my fiancee became my EX-fiancee a week before the crash. Then I end up in the ER (where I work) to get over a dozen stitches. If my dog had died, I'd have packed up my guitar and moved to Nashville. But James is completely right. Without the support and help from the folks from this site, not quite sure what I'd have done.
