If you don't won't to feel that way and are going to have someone else do your oil changes, stick with the syn-blend. You should be able to get it done for $19.99 to $29.99 somewhere. Skip the full-synthetic, there will always be a large premium for that, unless you DiY.

full car detail?!?
In-n-out wash & vac mayhaps; but there's a few miles between $100 and a full detail! A good location will start full details at $175... dealership or "brick and mortar" detail shop!

If the OP was only paying $29 for the service, that ain't too bad though. My shop only gets a little more for a full syn service; but unless they got an itemized list of what was done and/or checked you never know... $70 does seem a bit high though.

The reason I take mine in is so that my oil changes are documented with the dealer so I can prove that they have been done on schedule. That way if I resell it or if a warranty issue comes up my butt is covered. Is it a waste of money? probably

Well, I can see that as a valid reason then.

I guess I never plan on selling my car so that kind of stuff doesn't matter and thus, never even crossed my mind.

Not sure what my dealership charges, as I work at a shop, but we do syn blend for $24.99 normally, on sale for $19.99 right now. Full syn is a $25 up-charge, so it's still not $70. And it includes a tire rotation and multi-point check.

The word "premium" when associated with any service or merchandise almost always results in a substantially lighter wallet.
