It would be awesome if they get a Fedora port for it. I'm working on a Debian server right now, but I prefer fedora

RPi's have been hard to come by unfortunately. I ordered mine from Newark the middle of June and it arrived a month later. I think I got lucky.

RPi can handle a touchscreen but not MFT's because of the way it's connected. I am using a Logitech EX110 wireless keyboard and mouse for input at the moment.

Thanks for the info. At first glance HS-CAN looks very similar to an I2C bus, something I am familiar with. I'll have to do a little more research on this.

I did ask Ford for the Sync SDK and was ignored.

I do ask because if they had a double din kind of thing or something... I'd like this in that setup
RPi has a composite video jack and that's how it's connected to MFT . It also has a stereo output jack that can be connected to the two RCA style audio jacks in the center console for sound. There's an HDMI output for audio/video as well but that won't work in the Focus without an expensive adapter.

The Pi is powered via USB from a D-Link DUB H4 USB Hub, and the hub is powered via a power inverter. Since both require 5VDC, I'll buy or build a power supply that can plug directly into the cars accessory power rail.

This project is still in the experimental stages. I am really hoping that when ICS comes out for the Pi it will support Google Maps; at which point I'll pick up a GPS module.

Whether MFT will be useful remains to be seen, if anything it might only be useful as a secondary display. If so, I have other ideas.

This I ordered last week and it will be here tomorrow:

This might be an option as well (or something similar):

Definitely interested in this project.

Would love to put one of these in as well as a wifi card into the USB slot, then I could work in my car via the Pi/MFT when I'm parked.

Just what I posted under the MFT thread, I'll have more once the Lockpick is installed this Summer. http://www.focusfanatics.com/forum/s...01#post4650601

The Pi is pretty tapped out just dealing with the audio and Android mirroring, and I have much more functionality to add. The final solution will likely use an Intel Atom (Bay Trail), Sandy Bridge, or Ivy Bridge.

But, for those content with just audio and Android mirroring the Pi is a bargain solution at $35. Unfortunately the Lockpick adds substantial cost to the project.
