But isn't there talks/rumors on a RS Fiesta that could be 3 door? or was that just prior to knowing if the Focus RS was going to happen because its a 5 door?
Either way... what can be done to a car with a factory warranty and still keep it? Wasn't there some court ruling a while back that said "minor" aftermarket stuff would not void warranty (i.e. bolt on's) so air intake, cat back exhaust, short through shifter. cant think of much else... can not void warranty?

That's what I heard. That's still a couple of years out though. I'm hoping Ford will reconsider.

I love it....Ford does us a solid by bringing us the same ST as Europe has right down to the tires and I come in this thread only to find people bitching about it not being good enough and "can't wait for the RS [that will never come because unfortunately Focus owners are the same as the Escort owners a lot of us used to be; all talk until they get exactly what they want.....then no money.] !Thank you Ford for bringing us this carĄ Ill be honest, can't afford a new one but in a couple years I will buy one off-lease or dealer demo. Or if I got lucky like I did with my current "ST" SAP2, pick one up from repo for thousands under book. Just my 3 1/2˘....

^^^ I don't think any of that is being said. We are saying that the motor will be a PITA to try and tune and we just wonder why a "tuner" specific car that is marketed towards a specific type of person would either be difficult for 3rd party people to tune or why Ford them selves don't provide tunes/updates for modifications.
I will be getting the ST next year around Aug. As far as the no Money... I bet the RS would have sold more units per year that the SVT did... SVT was only 50 more HP and had a price tag that some people thought was a bit much for that. The mind set has also shifted since the late 90's early 2000's on smaller cars, thus the Fiesta is back in the US market along with the smart car, Mini, the Scion FR-S coming out soon...). People in the USA said why spend 30k on a small car when I can get XXX which is bigger. Now people are in a better mind set for a "Hot Hatch" and are willing to spend the same price. You can get a Mustang GT for $32k and the Focus ST is around $28... for $4k more you could have the 5.0L V8 vs the Turbo 2.0L 4-cyl. The GT has 420 H, so for $4k more you get an extra 150HP and rear wheel drive? 10 years ago no one would have bought the 3 door focus, they would have gotten the mustang. Today is a different story.

There's alot of competition out there in the $30k range and it's a buyers paradise;the sporty car market is in better shape than it ever has been.

My understanding of the 2.0 in the ST is that it is already maxed out (or nearly maxed out) on power as it stands. That is supposedly why the RS is getting a 2.3l...
Last I knew, though a relatively easy fix (and probably ironed out by now), is that the ST was popping the stock head gaskets...

seriously? i always buy off-lease.... let some other schmuck pay the depreciation.
And yes, in every single thread since the real ST was announced all I've seen is people saying "Wish it was the RS!" just like back in the day it was "Wish it was the Escort Cosworth!". Basically people are never happy with what they get. That's all Im saying. Thanks for sticking words in my mouth dingleberry. Posted via FF Mobile |

And seriously, who right this minute actually has anything but monopoly money to plunk down $30k+ for a Focus? I've been on car boards since most of the members here were in preschool and its always the same.....people bitching and moan about cars and parts they want but as soon as companies come to the table with the goods there's no one coming up with the cash. Example: group buys. 'Nuff said. :)
