It does surprise me the kinda cars people came from.
Though traded down is a relative thing for this car. I guess I actually traded sideways or even up from my Lincoln. More features, better mileage, maybe a hit on the interior and power but I can easily live without such things in this calibre of a hatch. They arent winning all the comparisons for nothing it seems

Went from a 2005 Ford Taurus to the Focus. I liked the Focus because it was loaded with luxury features that was really only common in high end cars/luxury cars.
Dual electronic climate control for one. Heated leather seats being another. Then add good fuel economy, and being a hatchback, to me it has more practicality/functionality than my old Taurus sedan. But, I barely use the poor thing. I love it, but I don't love making payments. :P |

I went from a 2007 F150 Supercab Flareside (long bed) to the my Focus HB. The F150 was the best vehicle I have ever owned. Over 100k on the clock and not a single problem. The V8 has great low end grunt and it drives beautifully on the highway. The price for all of that is terrible gas mileage. I still have the F150 but I will be selling it to a friend in the next month or so.
I don't consider the Focus a downgrade though. I will be 45 this year and I appreciate handling and mileage more than ever. I considered the ST but the seats were just too firm and the ride a little too harsh for me. My Focus sticker price may have been lower than the F150 but I feel the Focus is far more advanced. I just hope it turns out to be as good of a vehicle as the F150 has been. On another note, I am still trying to decide if I will stick with 17" wheels or go with 18" aftermarket. I think the wheels look good but I need something more unique. |

Also, when I say nothing has gone wrong I mean nothing. Not even so much as a piece of plastic or knob has been defective. I just recently replaced the first bulb. It was the third brake light bulb. |

I traded a 1995 Buick Regal that needed more $work than the car was worth. A large part of my decision was mileage driven. I bought a 3-yr extended maint contract from Ford as I tend to keep my cars for about 10 years and I was was a bit concerned about the technology in this car being untested. 12,000 and 13 months, no issues :)

From a fully optioned 2008 Ford Expedition Eddie Bauer 4x4 that was killing me on payments and fuel, to a 2013 Titanium fully decked out. Truth be told, the wife got the Focus for daily commuting and I took over her "old" 2011 Taurus Limited. So far so good, hopefully they figured out the issues in the early builds of the 2012's. We did the whole "wait a year" for the Focus, didn't was a first year redesign build.
