Adding Nav after purchase

i recently watched a CNET review of ford's taurus and they said tht if the taurus is equipped w/ MFT an u wanna add nav (implied after purchase) all u need to do is purchase the 795$ nav card.

this is the first i've heard of this... i was always under the impression that MFT either came w/ or w/o nav from factory. If the CNET vid is correct, then will this be applicable to the focus w/ MFT?

anyone wanna comment?

The CNet video is likely full of holes. If the car wasn't built with nav and its coded based on vin in the as built data, so far Ford's made it impossible to add it in afterwards except if you hack around it by using a module from a wrecked car with nav and not taking it back to the dealer.

That and or its not implied to be after purchase at all, but at the time of purchase which makes more sense since they would be reviewing a new car.

Yeah, he's kind of an idiot for saying that all it takes is the $800 ($795+) sd card from your local dealer. I think he doesn't know anything about what he's talking about.

Just watched the video, Cooley is WRONG. Ford won't let you add navigation after the fact. He's gotten little stuff like that wrong before. Just remember, the quality of C|net is dubious at best. They are little more than an amateur blog that came into money.

LOL.. agreed. I was just going to point that out, as soon as I see anyone on the tech forums I frequent use "CNET" as thier only reference, the boards slam them for not actually looking at credible sources... LOL.. sad, but true. The "money" you speak of is CBS, who I believe bought them out.
