where to find engine number

hi all,

im a newbie and have joined this forum to try and find info about my ford focus 1.6 estate according to the log book its a 2004 and looking at the body ithink its a mark 2 or mark 1 with a facelift i need to do some work on the car but am unable to determine which model, i have the vin number but dont know where to look on the engine to find the engine number,

any help would be greatly appreciated
