Mpg clarification?

Per the ford website, mpg is as follows:

Fuel Economy and Engine Type
Engine Type 2.0L Ti-VCT GDI I-4 2.0L Ti-VCT GDI I-4 PZEV (PZEV states) 107kW permanent magnet electric traction motor
Fuel Economy 26 city / 36 hwy / 30 combined (manual) 26 city / 36 hwy / 30 combined (manual) 110 city/99 hwy/105 combined MPGe151
28 city / 38 hwy / 31 combined (automatic without SelectShift™) 28 city / 38 hwy / 31 combined (automatic without SelectShift™) Battery Range: 76 miles
27 city / 37 hwy / 31 combined (automatic with SelectShift™) 27 city / 37 hwy / 31 combined (automatic with SelectShift™)
28 city / 40 hwy / 33 combined (SE Sedan with SFE Package) 28 city / 40 hwy / 33 combined (SE Sedan with SFE Package)

However I don't see a separate rating for the titanium handling package variants. I've always thought larger/wider tires decrease mpg. Can anyone clarify?

Those numbers are also wrong for the Select shift cars since for job 2 cars they were rated at the same 28/31/38 mpg.

However in the real world yes the larger wheels will slightly negatively effect mpg due to the extra inertia, plus the wider wheels and tires which are also stickier.

We have a titanium with about 2000 miles. We are getting 30.5 with a mike of 85% city 15% freeway have t had time to get out and take a road trip yet but I think it's great mileage.

Do you care that much? If you just drive it right you can achieve stellar numbers on your own Titanium or not.

Yeah but you may be able to get 35+ in the '12 Focus with the same driving.
Even equal economy is impressive given the '12 is probably quite a bit heavier, much more insulation and NVH supression. It's a very quiet ride.

Not to mention all the additional airbags, tech equipment, etc. etc. etc.

The official numbers for '13 recently got posted on fueleconomy.gov. They've changed again.

City: 27 Comb: 31 Highway: 38

Same with or without selectshift.

The SFE package is unchanged (and still just as much of a ripoff. )
