It sits right about where a CAI intake would. So I think it's technically a CAI.
Here is a couple pics from back when I bought it, when I first started focus'in.

For how much it cost, it's awesome in my book, causing a little lag on low end power, but now that I got other parts on the car, it's barely noticeable.

That definitely sits higher than a CAI. My K&N CAI went all the way down and tucked into where the stock air box was. The weapon-r sits a little higher up; which is good because it looks like it would be safe from rain. That's the one reason why I ditched the CAI for the steeda SRI, no matter what I think, the air filter would get soaked in rain.

Yea, I just didn't like the idea of putting it back into the stock location, and others just put it too low to the ground.

It also really didn't make sense to me to buy one that puts it in the stock location, cause you got to ask yourself, does it really do anything?

So I like where this Weapon R sits, and I'm about to buy a heat shield for it, along with the tubing to run a line to the front grill. I'm hoping this will help keep it cooler, and prevent heat soak.

I only feel heat soak on really hot days, like 95 degree's or higher, and it only happens when sitting for too long in that heat.

But overall, it's a good intake, I like were it sits, and I like the HP ratings, and when at 4500RPM, you can really hear the whistling good, it sounds more like a turbo. lol

Yeah, sitting at idle and SRI's don't mix lol When I was datalogging the other day, I was sitting at idle for maybe 3 minutes and my IAT reached 154 deg coolant temp. was still only 198 but it just goes to show that SRI's don't like idle lol Driving around is a different story, when I was cruising, IAT was around 95ish which was pretty much what the outside temperature was. The heat shield might help some, but at idle, I don't think it'll do much. Unless the tubing is fully enclosed, the convection heat transfer from air will find it's way to your intake.

I think your best bet would be to build a heat shield that would stop the air filter from sucking in air from the direction of the engine. I think that might have a good effect

If you would have told me that you were going to place blue wheels on a yellow car I would say thats horrible. But it looks great on your car. I want that blue color.

It's rustoleum metallic blue.

And since it's "technically" my GF's car, that she got lucky as hell when she went looking for a car three years ago.

She picked it, at first I said IDK hunny, but since it was her car, I said I'll put W/E you want on it, but it has grown on me, and I get a lot of comments in person from friends, or random people driving by giving the thumb up, and pointing.
