Friend has the SCT X3 Flasher, Can I just use it?

Morning folks;

I have an 08 Ford Focus SE Sedan (Automatic, Duratec 2.0L) (now with FSWERKS CAI).

My brother owns the SCT X3 flasher, as he had used it to flash his 2005 mustang.

I'd like to know if I can just pay someone to setup the programming file for us, and then I could just borrow his flasher to flash my focus?

(The goal being to skip having to pay like $400 for a flasher, since we already have that, just need the data). I'm totally fine with paying some one or some company to do the programming tune part, by all means.

I remember reading on here months ago about someone specializing in doing just this, but I wasn't able to find them just now, when I was searching around.

I'm thinking if I can get the tune done on the "cheap"; then I'll also order the "race" exhaust upgrade from fswerks as well.

Let me know your thoughts, thanks!

From the Manual:

X3 Power Flash VIN locks to a single vehicle. You cannot use the device to tune a new or
different vehicle, until you have returned the original vehicle back to stock, which will unlock the device. You can only change vehicles 5 times before the unit is permanently locked.

However its Programed for the mustang, wont work on the Focus, so you need to buy one anyway.

Trust me, I understand where your coming from. But I know of no one here that does what you want.

Turbo Tom here is a dealer that can do free reprogramming once you buy one for a focus from him.

Ok thanks for the information, and yeah I figured it would have to be re-programmed obviously for the focus, kinda sucks its VIN locked!

As long as the Mustang has been returned to stock, you can use it.
There are no "canned" tunes for the Focus though.
Tom and FSWERKS both charge $150 to tune on existing devices.

Ah ok, yeah his mustang has not been returned to stock; however; he won't be doing any additional upgrades to it (already maxed out).

That's not too bad for existing, like more than half off. Thanks for the price information.

The tuner is locked/married to his Mustang until it's returned to stock.
You could leave his tuned and pay SCT $150 bucks to unlock yours by mailing it in and then you could use it on your focus with someone like TurboTom for another $150.

However, the mustang will be stuck with that tune and can never change. You will have lost the stock tune and I think ford charges ~100$ to flash back to stock and you cant drive the mustang in stock tune with a CAI that has a different MAF housing. And if he bought a CAI for his mustang that didnt change the MAF housing, slap him for me.

Pay tom the $420 for your own Tune and tuner, he does free updates as you add stuff NA.
