Replacement windshield wiper options?

I've seen a few threads regarding replacing the windshield wiper blades in the 2012+ models, but the threads I found are all a couple years old at this point. From looking at those old threads, at the time it seemed like the aftermarket hadn't gotten their act together and that there were pretty limited options that worked well outside of Ford's OEM blades or the ones from their supplier, Valeo.

I always just bought the cheapest blades because they seemed to work as good as the expensive ones, (they just didn't last as long) but I've always had older cars using metal framed wipers in 18-20" sizes. I would imagine with the large, beam style wipers of the Focus, things might be different.

Just wondering if there are better options now a few years later and if anyone could share their positive or negative experiences with different wipers? I have no idea how old my blades are since they came with the car, but they're chattering and streaking badly so that means a replacement is in order.

Thoughts or suggestions?

I always get the blade style. My last set lasted 2 years. I put on a set of rain x latitudes last week. Wayyyy better.

I had an Acura TSX with 26" blades and for years I changed them with all brands to eliminate the chatter. I finally tried the Valeo Ultimate. Seemed a little pricy at first but they solved the problem and when the time comes I'll put them on the Focus for sure.

I always treat my windshield with rain x so that helps too.

A good treatment with Rain-x or aguapell will help with keeping the windshield clean.

Personally I love Rain-x blades, for me they always seemed to work the best.

Don't try the Trico Force. They are supposed to be aerodynamic or something, but they only work on the driver's side. I have to return the passenger side one and will just get a Rain-X on that side. I can't seem to find a replacement rear wiper in store to save my life though, and none of the little books even list the size (12" I think).

Just put on Bosch Icons. Love them. Always had good luck with the Rain-X ones too.

I find that the rain x blades make the wiper arm sit higher, making the top of the blade and wiper arm more noticeable from the seat.
