Quick update:

I can't find any smoke test here where i live, but i did have it tested for air leaks, none found.
I also cleaned and checked my injectors, they are fine.

A found a mechanic that told me the problem could come from my timing belt. When i bought the car, i changed the timing belt with an amateur mechanic that didn't seem to do a very good job. Can this be the root of my problem ?

Mechanics found that my camshaft is broken, also the timing belt is not properly set. Gonna change that next week and will post here again if it solved my problem.

I had the same problem when i got my car, i changed the head temp switch, and it went perfect after that.

I have a hard time believing your engine would run at all with a broken camshaft.

it's not broken in half, one of the edges is chipped pretty bad, i don't know how to explain, it looked pretty bad.

i already changed that sensor, it didn't do anything unfortunately

I replaced my torn PCV hose last night (typical around 100k miles) and the check engine light went off at first. For some reason though when I start the engine cold it revs up for about 4-5 seconds now and the check engine light comes back on. If it is already at operating temp and I unplug-replug the battery the light doesn't come back on until I leave it sit for a few hours and start it again. After the initial start up it's running as smooth as it ever has and idles perfectly. Any ideas? Never mind problem is resolved

This also happens to me. The only thing different is, sometimes it does not happen without load. Meaning, when I rev it on neutral, this does not happen.

The theory about not having enough juice pumping into the battery at idle Did anybody test the voltage when the idle is high, then when the idle goes down to normal level, check if the voltage is the same? This is the first time I've read about this and will be testing it myself this weekend.

I fixed it, the problem was that my camshaft was chipped in one of the corners. I'm guessing this happened because of the timing belt being incorrectly installed.

All the other parts (IACV, TPS, etc.) had nothing to do with my problem.

i am needing some help :( i have been dealing with my car idling high for many months. It idles high when i crank it at times and i kill it and re crank it and it is fine. It also idles high at times while driving down the road and when i go to stop my car it struggles to stop because of the idling problem. I have replaced the ideal air control valve and also another part and it has not fixed the problem. help what can i do to fix this it scares me when my car struggles to stop

Hi trinit, I am currently diagnosing a similar problem in my 2006 2.0 Dtec after installing an SRI in reference to my post on Likwid's thread about DIY SRI. http://www.focusfanatics.com/forum/s...=239885&page=6

It was initially, just a CEL, code P0171, car was running fine otherwise. But after resetting the ECM a couple times, it was revving up past 3k rpm in park and neutral. I have also heard that the cruise control cable could cause this. I am suspecting a vacuum leak on my pcv valve. I inspected it and it looks ok. I'm going to spray some carb cleaner on it today while the engine is running to see if that causes a change in rpm (with a fire extinguisher handy). I will repost to let you know what happens.
