Hatchblack14 Build Thread

Hello,

I purchased this Focus on Black Friday as I needed to downgrade from my Tahoe and get a more fuel efficient vehicle for my 80 mile daily work commute. Now averaging 34 mpg and loving it.

This will be my slow build thread. I like clean simple mods and despise debt so I will be paying this off before dumping too much money into performance upgrades.

Completed Mods as of 02/2014:
  • Weathertech Floor Liners
  • Window Tint (35% Front Windows, 5% Back, 5% Hatch)
  • Black DMB Ford Overlays

Car Detailing:
  • Wash Soap : Chemical Guys Maxi Suds II Shampoo
  • Washing Foam Gun: Gilmour 75QGFMRO Foamaster Cleaning Gun
  • Washing Mits: Griot's Garage 10268 Microfiber Wash Mitts (2)
  • Washing Buckets : Leaktite Corp. 5GLCLR 5 Gallon Clear Plastic Pail
  • Washing Grit: Guard Grit Guard Insert (Red)
  • Iron-X: CarPro Iron X Iron Remover 500 ml.
  • Clay Bar
  • Porter Cable: Porter Cable 7424XP
  • Polisher: Poorboy's SSR2 Swirl Remover
  • Prewax Cleansing Polish: Poorboy's World Professional Polish
  • Glaze: Poorboy’s World Black Hole Show Glaze for Dark Vehicles 16 oz.
  • Paint Sealant : BLACKFIRE Wet Diamond Sealant
  • Wax : BLACKFIRE BlackICE Hybrid Montan Sealant Wax 3 oz.
  • Windshield Sealant: Optimum Opti-Glass Coating
  • Interior Cleaning: 303 Aerospace Protectant 16 oz. (Spray Bottle)
  • Exterior Trim : Wolfgang Exterior Trim Sealant 8 oz.

Stock:

After Tint:
I had to go with 35% up front in order to register ~27% with Cops if ever pulled over, rest of car is 5%. I love it, you can't see in at all and barely in the front during bright sunlight. Driving at night is now not a problem, as before headlights behind me were a great annoyance. Not too dark at all driving at night with 5% on back and hatch.

DMB Overlays:
I could not be more impressed with these. They look perfectly OEM and make a great subtle change in appearance.

PLEASE post the link of where you bought those decals. I have wanted those forever and have not found a quality replacement.

It came out to just under $40 American Dollars I believe. Shipping was fairly fast to Texas as these ship from the UK. I think it took about a week.

Very easy to apply. Just clean your Ford Emblem well, dry it, warm it up with a hair dryer, peel backing off gel overlays, heat those up with hair dryer, and carefully stick on.

Digging the dark tint on black. Decals on the emblems look nice too.
