If your around let me know hows the cranky grouch running after 80k miles. 4 months aint giving me much to go on! respectfully of course sir!

Automatics with torque converters? Suck.

Only one brand is good, ZF. Their 8 speed is damn impressive. And damn expensive since every flagship car from every luxury brand wants It.

A DCT? A sequential box? Makes manuals look like shit. That's just the technology.

If Le Mans, Endurance, DTM, F1, Rally, and all the supercars under the sun are ditching traditional manuals for sequential boxes then I guess it's just fine for me and my hatchback.

Embrace the future.

Is your Focus equipped with an in-dash navigation system? Also, have you installed the Performance Upgrade software yet?

The dealer installed the performance update the day I bought it, it doesn't have navigation.

True but Ford's smaller fwd conventional auto transmissions haven't been known as the most reliable trannys either.

Part of me wishes they had made the regular 6 speed auto the base option just so all these people would have that to use.

80,000km in the Lincoln and that gearbox was as useless and boring and reliable as it was when it rolled out of the factory

You'd be surprised at how bad iTunes is at managing a library. Cleaning it out personally has made streaming within my own home easier, no reason why those same library errors don't cause issues with cars.
Do you have specific example of this, MyThIc3LiTe? I'd like to pass some details along to engineering for further investigation.

Thanks for the reply, please disregard my same question in the "MFT gone blank" thread. If you haven't yet, I suggest performing a Master Reset. To do so, press the clock and go through the following menu sequence: SETTINGS > SYSTEM > MASTER RESET

Let me know if this helps!

Jaclyn

Thanks Jaclyn, I did a Master reset. It wiped all phone data, indexing for the USB drive, cleared out all wallpaper on the system except the blue oval, satellite presets are gone, and the clock reset. The radio presets and audio tonal settings were retained which seems kind of odd.

That was fun, well not really. Fortunately I was expecting it so I took pictures and documented the settings prior to the reset.

It would be a useful if we had the option to back up some of those settings to a thumb drive. MFT is a computer after all and they all seem to need a good reset once in awhile. I think I'll submit this idea to Ford Social if somebody else hasn't already.

Text messaging is working again, I'll have to drive it for awhile to see how it behaves now.

At about 3,900 miles in 5 weeks (I have a 95-mile round-trip commute), my DCT has smoothed out incredibly. I experienced some initial hard shifts early on, particularly from 2nd to 3rd, but those are gone. Sometimes, going from sport shift (S) back to Drive will open up my shift points, but for the most part it's as smooth as glass.

Unlike some of you, I have no issues with the DCT around town - I just drive it like a stick and have fun with it. It drives fine. This car has never failed to put a smile on my face, which, in over 35 years of driving, is no small accomplishment. I *love* this car.

SYNC (not MFT) can be a bit touchy - and erratic - at times, especially since my last upgrade, which I think I might have botched. I have favorites in my iPhone's Address Book, yet it still downloaded the entire address book. I'm going to try to take it into the dealer this weekend to see if they can do another update to fix it.

You're welcome, oritpro, I'm glad to hear you're able to text once again! Sharing your thoughts at http://Social.Ford.com/ is a great idea! Be sure to post your idea here so other Focus Fanatics can comment and vote.

Hi, collisionbend -

The automatic phonebook download will store all of your contacts. If you wish to just save certain entries, you can manually push those individual contacts. To do so, follow the instructions below:

1. Enter the Phone screen.
2. Press SETTINGS.
3. Press ADVANCED in the lower right corner.
4. Press MODIFIES PHONEBOOK.
5. Press ADD CONTACTS.

SYNC will tell you that you can now push contacts from your phone. For most phones, this is done by selecting a contact and opening the menu for that contact. You can then select to send the contact via Bluetooth to nearby devices. The process may be different for your phone, so if you do not see this option, please consult your phone's manual for more detailed instructions.

In regards to performing an update, I recommend checking your SYNC Owner account to see if there's one available for your vehicle. Otherwise, PM me your VIN and I'll check it out for you.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Jaclyn

That would be wonderful!

I realize the standard 'fix' is to tell us to perform a Master Reset, but it's a complete PITA to have to wipe all my settings on a regular basis.

Being forced to spend 15-20 minutes plugging all my settings back in once a week/month/whatever kind of detracts from the whole point of having a nice, expensive integrated system. Especially with Nav - it's far simpler/faster to just use Google Maps/Nav on my phone most of the time!
