So many problems on focus
I just want to buy a focus, but there is so many problems that scared me. As far as I found, 2012 focus have those problems even after upgrade:
1. MFT frustrating 2. DCT noise 3. Steering wheel unstable 4. Air condition unstable What else? How can I persuade myself to buy one focus? |

MFT problems are not bad anymore, get a 5MT and avoid the DCT if you worry about it. steering wheel thing is pretty limited. have not seen anything about an AC problems.
Every manufacturer is going to have some problems with cars |

I have a 5 speed, and I have not had 1 problem. I love this car! Not every focus has these problems.

I was one of the first people to own the new Focus, and can say that I have never had a problem with the car. I do have the DCT transmission and it shifts smoothly. MFT has always worked perfectly, because I did my homework and went out and upgraded my phone (needed anyway) to work with the system. The Focus is a great car which out classes the rest of the competition easily!

DCT is awesome. Steering is tight. A/C works great with dual zone climate control

A coworker bought a Chevy Cruze recently and it's getting nowhere near the stated MPG. And Toyota should still be reeling from that brakes scandal from a while back... And EVERY car is going to have a recall of some sort. I've never had a car that didn't have a recall notice applied. Even under the best of conditions, stuff happens. And the more complex cars get, the more chances of problems. "Time is money", but the lack of customers can be a teensy problem as well. Proper research has to be done to weed out a reasonable number of problems before a car is put onto the market. Workers are called "sloppy" but companies' marketers and management can be sloppy as well, in demanding things be rushed, overlooked, or - worse - ignored. Those should be truisms in any field. But, realistically, that doesn't always work out either - as the number of ambient issues can make that impossible at times. Which is why when a company works in response to an issue in good faith, customers should give the company good faith in return. |

Titanium owner for 1 year and very happy overall...much less headache than my VW Golf...despite what you might read here, some Ford dealerships are more than accommodating in dealing with minor issues I've had.

I believe there is an old saying that goes something like "If you buy the first model year of a new car it will have problems." Now I know the focus has been around for a while but the MK3s are almost a total redesign from the MK2s.
It's got a whole lot of computers in it and most of it is "new tech" at least that's how I justify it if something goes wrong. Personally, once I got the TSB for the DCT I have very little problems. Some slight issues with the steering but that's about it. Find a good dealer that's willing to take care of you and they'll help you fix whatever issues arise.

My A/C works well, I just put it on the chest area rather than chest and legs to actually feel it, but that's at the minimal "1" setting on the fan.
DCT depends on how I drive, it doesn't like aggressiveness. But slow and steady it thrives on. Steering wheel holds very well, I can go from a light (stopped) to about 30 mph without touching it. MFT I played with in a Flex, it's all if you want a touch screen or not. Base radio works well.
