hvac controls help
the right part of the three hvac buttons ( the fan speed ) has always seemed to act up under the number 4. it would turn off over bumps. today, it completely stopped working and when put to 4 would turn off and a/c light would go off. i played with it like an idiot, and now its all screwed up.. 0 1 2 3 and 4 now all blow air, and wont turn off. i dont know what happened. what is the part i need to replace so i can look it up on eBay. thanks

It sounds like you screwed up the blower switch, but it might be a problem at the resistor. I find it strange that you had problems with the lower speeds, but not 4. Usually problems with the switch affect all speeds. You might also be dealing with 2 different problems. One problem with the resistor wiring or plug connection, and another with the switch. When you replace the switch (or before), you really should carefully inspect the wiring for the switch and the resistor.

Yeah I had the same problem in my '00 SE. It was the coldest day of winter and I turned the blower off and when I tried to turn it back on nothing came on, took it to the garage to work on it and couldn't find what was wrong, replaced the resistor, still nothing, so we cut the wire that was supposed to be ground and grounded it to the body so the blower would at least run and give me heat. Once the weather broke and I could look into it more I tore the dash apart and took the blower control switch out and sure enough the post had melted and wasn't making connection, replaced it for like $7 at auto-zone and repaired the cut wire and was up in running again in about 25 minutes.
