Do the S model mirrors come apart?

I'm wondering if the top black plastic piece comes off. I'd like to pop it off, lay a thin coat of bono on, block it, spray it silver, and have some paint matched mirrors without the lights like the higher models.

I would like to know as well. From the break downs I've seen it pops off and look like it is painted or black plastic for the different models without lights.

It looks like it should come off, just not sure how easily.

I guess you just pull the mirror glass straight toward you... (dont break it).. and the tops of the mirrors are held in place with clips behind where the glass goes... once you release the clips the tops of the mirrors come right off...

I haven't actually ripped mine apart yet, but plan to do so when I add heated mirrors later on...
