2008 with bad security system?

ive been trying to fix my sister 2008 Focus and last night i had a buddy bring his scanner over and apparently the security brain is shorted out and needs to be replaced. He told me 1200 dollars for it and its a tiny four inch box? If the secruity brain is bad is it really 1200 dollars, i tried Google and i cant find anything about it for prices?

checked Google again and only answer i found was to have the keys reprogrammed. My buddy did this last night and so far the keys are working but he said within a day or so the anti theft will short out again and cause the no start and hell have to reboot the system again untill we install a new one?

Hi there,

Have you called the parts department of your local dealership? They can point you in the direction of the correct part. If the DIY route becomes problematic, you can always make an appointment at the dealership so they can diagnose and repair.
