Focus Svt Belt squeal

Ok so we finally got the a/c working in our svt. Now every time you turn the a/c on the belt squeals horribly. The belt looks perfectly fine and never made a squeak before the a/c started working. Could the belt still be bad or could it be the pulley on the a/c compressor? And if it is the pulley can you replace them or do you have to replace the whole compressor?

Compressor most likely. If it were the pulley alone it would squeak without a/c on since pulley still used.

ugh great..My step-father in law said to change the belt and tensioner first and see if it stops. And if not then I guess we are getting a new compressor..

^^^ Yeah, if that tensioner is easy to move, then that's your problem.

Yeah my husband went out and checked it last night..He said the belt was barely tight at all. So the tensioner must be bad.

Update: My husband was driving the car to work the other day to get it fixed and the tensioner snapped right down the street..He made it there ok and fixed it. Good thing he was taking it to work that day to fix!
