Just bought our Ti two weeks ago and took it on a road trip this weekend. Noticed the left and right swaying but thought it was wind. Good to know other people are having an issue. Going to be bringing up to my dealer along with the transmission grinding sound when we get back.

Edit: may 2012 build date also.

I will say that my Ti experienced this on part of my trip to AL the other weekend, though I believe that it was a result of the road surface. It felt the same as riding a motorcycle over the wavy-grooved roads that occur when the road crews are prepping for re-paving.

It was only on one section of the interstate, for however many miles. I also experience it on roads that have deep tire grooves from wear. I forget what they're called. But I attribute that to the width of tire...it's definitely a rare occurrence for me and not across all types of driving situations.

I stand corrected. The build date on my Focus is July 2011.

The Focus just doesn't feel right... too heavy, and sometimes it's fighting really hard, sometimes it isn't doing a thing.

Good luck getting it resolved at all, though. I can see dealers refusing to ever admit there's anything wrong with it...
I took my Focus in to the shop this morning and they called me later in the day to say that it did indeed need some parts in the steering replaced. I don't remember him saying it was a steering rack but rather something in the steering shaft that needed replaced. Didn't get a parts list yet as I have to wait for the parts to come in (about 5 days) and then make the appointment and have the work done. I'll update my thread and let you and others know what exactly was replaced. So hopefully when the work is done, it will be resolved. Just glad they found the problem.

My Ti steers fine. Light tight and just feels right, especially with my honey sitting to my right. Build date is 2/12/2012.

Wow, where did that come from?
