Hood Spacers

No, I'm not going for looks like some of our fellow honda drivers lol I think some spacers on the hood brackets would be a nice way to let heat from the engine bay escape. Plus too, I wouldn't have to remove any weather stripping. I know a couple of guys personally who have done it and it worked out great. Maybe some 1/2" or 1/4" poly spacers. What do you guys think?

Unless you're running FI, there's no reason to worry about heat under the hood. Don't be a ricer.

I don't think that's ricer at all especially since it does work and since I constantly sit in stop and go traffic with a SRI in 100+ degree weather, heat soak is a problem and under hood temperatures are a concern.

I pulled the weatherstripping on my car, lots of heat back there with a header.

Exactly why I want to do something like this, I have a header going on soon and I want to let heat escape a little better. Have you had any issues with removing the weather stripping? Like rain or snow in the engine bay or anything else?

I haven't had any issues, but my focus is the autox car so it doesn't see more than 5K miles in a year, and doesn't see snow ever. I did driver 300 spirited miles to the tail of the dragon and back, raining the whole time, never had a problem.

Ok cool, how big of a section did you remove?

When I was running a turbo I pulled the weather stripping off the valance. Left a big enough gap for air to flow through without using hood spacers. I would do that if your really worried about engine bay heat.

I reinstalled them once I removed the turbo.
