01 zx3 fuel pump

Hey guys my pump is going on my zx3 and my question is do I need the whole module unit with the pump or can I just buy the pump itself. Their is a 200 dollar difference that's why I'm asking.

You will find life much easier to change the unit vs pump , look on ebay for the units they have good prices on them there

I agree with Tom on that one.

I tried to go cheap and that didn't work. Ended up having to buy the whole assembly from Ford just so I could get my car back.

is this the original pump? if so, then it is the old style and the new one will look different.

Also, when you say "module", are you referring to the in-tank pump assembly, or the pump + electronics module (under the rear seat)?

The reason I ask is because when I had my pump replaced, the Ford dealer said the new design required a new electronics control module. I questioned that and was given an electronics explanation that made little sense (I am an electronics tech). They said they wouldn't warranty the new pump without the new electronics, so I caved, but my suspicion was just that they wanted an extra $300 out of me, because the faulty design in the early model pumps was due to poor geometry, not insufficient power.

Maybe someone on this forum can confirm if your new pump will require a new electronics control module.

When i did mine i pulled the tank down
Took the old pump assembly out
Had to cut the mounting points out in the tank itself (where the old pump sat) so the new one would sit rite
Hooked the new one up to the oem connectors...no new electronics here

Everything works fine for me...been about three years now

Same here, and once I had the tank down and everything out you will see what we mean by tabs. Funny it's been about 3 yrs for me too
