Color of the oil doesn't classify condition, however, no way I would trust a synthetic blend with only 4.5 quarts up to 10,000 miles.

The 4.6L Mustangs with 6 quarts was only rated up to 7,500 miles with the same oil and a larger filter.

The 2011+ Mustangs with the 5.0 (8 quart sump) is rated for 10,000 miles. With all the extra quarts in the sump, it's easy to understand why.

Yeah but the V8s have a lot more surface area to protect. Those ratios make perfect sense to me. A V8 should need substantially more sump capacity to provide the same oil life as a 4-cyl.

I'm gonna start running the Amsoil at 10k. It will be fun taking the oil to the dealer (I told them that I didn't care what the financed in my car, so long as they took the SEL and gave me the Ti) during my free oil changes. No need for ramps, the only time my car goes up is to take wheels off (which seems to be quite frequent on this car)...

I think they thought about those $50 ramps you buy at autozone, which is what I use for oil change, takes whole 3 seconds to get the car up for oil and filter change in my own driveway :P

Amsoil remote bypass filter is installed. Testing starts today, can't wait to take the first oil sample from it.

I did take a sample of the factory fill @ 945 miles. Will send it to the lab for base line comparisons. The factory fill was extremely clean.

Will report on mpg increases, if any. I do expect ~1 mpg average increase as I have witnessed in other cars.

I'm not so sure, time will tell. This is a direct injected engine, and they are known to create fuel dilution issues in the past. I have not seen any UOA's from a 2012 Focus yet to see if it's an issue with this engine.

Total oil capacity is now 7 quarts. That's a 2.5 quart gain.

Camera in phone sucks, but it's all I have.

Ignore the unpainted bracket, it's a one off hand made prototype. Will be making another one with a machine and painted for final finish.

There is ONE negative of having a bypass filter system installed......

The oil is so darn clean, you can barely see it on the dipstick.

That looks really good! Dare I say even professional...

Out of curiosity, why did you choose that location? It would seem to me that oil traveling over the exhaust manifold would get a bit of heat transfer, though the overall amount of extra line may negate that...

Also, is the intent to be able to remove the mount for oil changes? It would seem that it would be difficult to get a catch under that location. I didn't look in my bay, just at your pics.

Final question- Are you going to determine your OCI based on the oil analysis in regards to both the filters and the oil?

Did I say that this install looks really good...?
