I'm doing my first change this week sometime. Haven't really looked at the filter from above. Had the felt panel off once, really easy to get to from the bottom.

That's the only way I could imagine doing it. There's no way to take that filter off and not make a mess of your cover unless you take it off.

If you have a low profile torx driver (maybe a ratchet with a driver bit) it might be doable. I don't think I could reach all the screws with the car on the ground, personally.

My organic oil was very dirty with 4500k miles on it today. Doesn't give me much faith in the 7500 miles stuff unless its synthetic. Just my opinion.

I've done it. It was fine, the rear center felt panel screw being the biggest challenge. But with a slight body contortion it is possible.
