VCT Solenoid issue?

So i just did my timing belt last week, my timing IS correct, i'm 100% positive of it, but i have been getting this noise, like a loud ticking that is RPM dependent and very concerning. also, a 1381 code is present

I believe I have narrowed it down to my VCT Solenoid as the solenoid has tested out of spec for it's internal resistance and the noise is coming from right there.

so, any other help for what my problem could be?

or possibly where to buy a VCT? i can't seem to find them anywhere!

dipping VCT in brake cleaner seems to work for some users here

that sounds like a wonderful plan actually. I will try that tomorrow

are there any videos of noises that were made by failed VCTs? mine is making a hell of a racket and I am not comfortable driving it as of right now.

thats what the builder said? i work in a performance shop and my best friend is a renowned engine builder, neither are familiar with the platform and we were discussing the notion that if pistons hit valves, it's an all or nothing kind of deal, the car runs, or it doesn't run. mine does run and runs well even with the noise, however the power gets kinda funky all over the RPM range and the VCT solenoid tested for out of spec resistance, thats what has me pointing in that direction

it's nothing or nothing, when belt snaps while driving, big BOOM and mess, while when timing is a lil off, and piston hits valve 'gently' just as it's retracting then it will run for a while - experience from fellow Houston member.

Anyway, maybe your knock is something else, I'm just talking about example on video.

For valve to be hitting the piston you would have major issues else where and it wouldnt be running right you/they are correct

If the solenoid goes bad I can see it clicking , never seen it before but it is an electronic solenoid , if you unplug it and the noise goes away then that would tell you a lot
