Who has Saab experience?

So I'm looking at maybe getting out of the Fusion and into a different car (read; more power.)

One that keeps coming up is the Saab 9-3 Aero. Anyone have experience with Saabs? Good cars? Problematic?

While they are "good" cars, I think you'd find the maintenance cost/upkeep to be similar to many other euro cars such as Volvo, Audi, BMW, VW, etc. They have their occasional quirk like most any other vehicle.

What I don't quite understand is why you'd want to get into a vehicle from a manufacturer which for all intents and purposes no longer exists, and which provides minimal if any warranty support, should you be looking at a vehicle that's still under warranty? Hell, we have some lenders who are already black-listing them from financing.

For those reasons I don't think it would be the wisest move. Just my 2 cents.

I've always liked the looks of the 9-3 Aero, plus a turbo V6 sounds damn good. They're really cheap too, from what I've seen.

Striving to be different simply for the sake of being different means that you'll never be satisfied.

Correct. Cheap for a reason. Resale has never been strong with them, and since their liquidation, they've tanked - the very reasons behind many lenders not even loaning on pre-owned Saabs anymore. Just because they are "cheap" doesn't make them a good deal.

No car is a good "investment" but wouldn't it be wiser to put your money into a vehicle from a manufacturer which actually exists and will be there to support you?

Again, not my money, but I think it's a mistake.

A Buick Park Avenue Ultra has more power. Why don't you get one of those?

I believe the Saab 9-3 is on the same chassis as my Malibu. Don't do it.

Don't pay attention to Mac. If you ignore it he'll go away.
