So are we saying that we need to hit unlock, then lock, then unlock again to get a dome light to come on? I think I'll just use signal flares to see at night. ;)

well what I meant and sonicbluz explained better than me:

One click-drivers door only-stealth feature-no dome
Two clicks-all doors-dome goes on

It has some sort of timer because one click to reenter within a certain amount of timeafter exiting the vehicle will activate the dome light.

Fun!

I've gotten in the habit of just clicking the unlock button twice every time, and that seems to do the trick

While that works, I have not figured out any distinct pattern to whether the dome lights will come on when I press the unlock button once or have to go through the 3-step process described above. It is random, so I don't think it is a design feature.

I'm with Patrick. I am very dissatisfied with the dome light. I've tried the sequence discussed above, and it's not consistent. There is some sort of MAJOR design failure here: the darker it is, the more likely it won't come on. My dealer is of no help. They don't even know this forum is here: when I told him about this thread and that this was an official Ford forum, he looked at me in disbelief! (Or is this not an official Ford forum?)

It's not an offical Ford Forum, although we do have members who work for ford (FordCustomerService/IVT/etc).

Ford monitors/participates in this forum enough so there were able to refer me to some sort of service manager when I first had this issue, but didn't send him a link to the thread, so he had no idea of what the problem was. So Ford's participation is somewhat helpful but could be better implemented.
