does anyone also notice you cannot turn on just the rear dome light?

I can only turn on both the "map light" and rear dome light at the same time. OR only the front light.. Im wondering if the dealer switched some wires when they put in the sunroof. i might pry it out and see...

Yes, I don't believe either of the dome light setups allows individual control of the rear dome light.

The factory moonroof setup is with three dome lights--left front, right front and one center rear. The way it works is that the larger button on the driver's side will turn on just the driver's side light, the other (smaller) button will turn on ALL 3 dome lights. Shotgun (front pass) has control over just his dome light, and the rear has no control at all.

Did you have an aftermarket moon roof installed by the dealer? Otherwise the moon roof was installed at the factory and it is wired properly based on your descriptions of the dome lamp operation.

The driver side has control of either itself or turning on all the other lamps, with a control over the passenger side b pillar for the right front lamp and no control for the rear one.

dealer installed. they just moved the light back. that seems kind of backwards. why would you want just the front one on?

Id rather have just the back one on if a passenger wants to read so i dotn get blinded by the front one.

You would only want the front one on so that you or a passenger could read a map while driving (from the bad old days when people used to actually unfurl a paper map out and navigate this way rather than just based on a GPS or cell phone.

Wouldn't it cost a lot more to have it installed after the car is built?

the dealer couldn't order any 2013s from the factory and the only option i wanted was a sunroof and auto so impossible to find here in toronto at a cost i wanted to pay. cost was low from the dealer and is fully warrantied so no worry's.

as for the dome light i get that you would want just the front one on.. but why not just the back one.. i guess its just not common?

What ever happened to the simple dome light? You unlock the car and it comes on when you open the door. Then it shuts off a few seconds after you shut the door. We had an issue this evening that I unlocked our '13 SE hatch using the remote, pushing it twice to open a rear door. I got NO dome lights what-so-ever. (They have always been working properly until today, I only have 2000 miles on the car) So, I opened the front door and still no dome light. So I turned on the dome light. Now I cannot get it to go off. No matter how I tried pushing buttons, (or combinations of buttons) it won't go off. I looked in the owners manual and my dome lights are not in it. What a PITA.

That's funny... I had that same issue a month or so back when I was trying to figure out the dome light as well. ;)

Forgive my ignorance, because I don't use the dome light, it's disabled. Is it possible the dome light coming on is based on the light sensor? It has to be pretty dark for even the auto headlights to come on. Do you guys have the dome light problem when it's pitch black outside?
