The benefits far outweigh the risks. Yea it sucked that I had to replace the housing once, but after this the intake has performed perfectly well. It sounds great. You can feel the extra pep in the 4500-6000 range. Totally worth the cost. Yea K&N need to fix the problem, but they are working on a solution.

I've been searching around for the right dyno charts...anyone familiar with the difference in gains between the kit and just running a K&N filter in the stock box? I know somebody must know.

Just wanted to say thanks to all who posted about their problems. I installed mine last night, no problems, and was careful about tightening the clamp. 75 miles so far, and no problems with filter falling off, or bent plastic.
On a side note, is everyone's system this loud? I expected and frankly wanted some noise, but I'm surprised at the resonance in the 2-3K RPM range. This is not a complaint, just a surprise. As most have reported, my initial thoughts are increased performance/throttle response, and also I saw about 2 MPG increase on my 60 mile commute this morning. Granted this was going by the computer, and a VERY short run, but so far matching up with what others have experienced. |

Nicely done Hoover... Didn't much notice the noise til my exhaust got quieter LOL. Enjoy your new music maker, just be sure to check the filter occasionally

I've found a couple of things that made mine quieter in that 2K-3K RPM range that you mention.
- spacing the MAF housing and heat shield so they don't contact each other - running higher octane fuel

Just went back and looked at your mod, I may try this as it seems to be a resonance, and mine is definitely contacting the MAF. I didn't notice much MPG change with premium, but am willing to try that again as well. Especially since I did notice a power difference with premium! Thanks for the info!
