Yea my new housing seems to be working fine. Definitely just the overtightening.

thanks for the update guys! - Please keep me posted - K&N has not ruled out over-tightening as a cause but we want to make sure.

I had the warning about overtightening so I was careful with mine. I checked it today after about a week of the last check and the filter had slid off the MAF and was barely hanging on. I pushed it back on and did the tightening steps over. When I check it I always try to rotate the filter on the housing and it never moves for some reason this time it was able to rotate and I pushed it back on without loosening the clamp. My clamp almost seems to have loosened up on me. I don't mind checking it every week or every fillup it just takes a little time and I like looking at it ;) Love the K&N intake and all the torque it makes.

That's weird. I haven't had that problem.

I really do like this intake. When you floor the car just takes off. Sounds great too.

I've checked it weekly for 3 weeks and it's always been tight. This week it decided to move. It may have been from all the "spirited" driving I've been doing just so I can hear how badass it sounds. lol

+1 I check mine at least once a week and the filter doesn't move, regardless of how hard I run the car. If mine were to loosen like meattooth's, I would consider putting some loctite on the clamp screw threads.

The mods I documented earlier to keep the MAF housing from contacting the heat shield are also still working perfectly.

I definitely check my filter often to make sure it's not coming loose.

Tbone, are you seeing any benefit to making these mods? Do you think the housing resting on the head shield puts stress on the housing? I thought about making your mods, but I'd really rather not take apart everything if there's no need.

The only real benefit to me is peace of mind. I can't say with certainty that you'll have issues from the MAF housing contacting the heat shield, but I know for certain that I won't.

You don't have to take the whole thing apart to do the modifications--just most of it. You can unplug the MAF, remove the hood seal, remove the filter, loosen the hump-hose clamp at the aluminum elbow, then unbolt only the heat shield piece with the MAF hole. The MAF, hump-hose and heat shield section will then come out as one piece. I've done this several times fitting parts that K&N sent me to try, and it's not that difficult.

Troy,
Have the new kits shipping out been changed to amend the issues that have been coming up?

Hello Blarson,

At this time there have been no changes made, the engineering team is reviewing everything and as soon as they inform me of any changes I will post here first thing.

Troy. :)
