Finally got the foglights working on my 2013 S, the 2013 S BCM isnt wired for the foglights operation (no brown wires on 18 and 19 pin). I made a standalone installation. Thanks a lot for the support Chaddz3 !!!

So, if I understand correctly, the 2012 Focus S had the wiring but no fuse and no circuitry in the BCM and the 2013 Focus S had the fuse, but no wiring or circuitry in the BCM, correct?

Hi, i'm new here and new to ford, I'm ready to receive my brand new focus SE sedan 2013 but It doesn't come with fog lights and the seller told me that they can't install the original fog lights so does anyone has been able to install them with an original switch? I would like to know if it is possible in order to explain it to the seller.

It is only theoretically possible. It can be done with a software setting that can be done, but nobody has yet found a dealer who both can and WILL. So I wouldn't try it, take it from someone who spent the money and had a dealer try and fail. They actually traded that first car back in for full price after 700 miles and sold me a Titanium at huge discount because they'd promised to put factory fogs on. Cost them and me both some money for that, but they made it right in the end!

The original switch isn't a switch, really, it's a digital controller for the BCU computer.

I've also heard that Ford changed the 2013's so some of these features can't even be accessed. So where it was theoretically possible on a 2012, it's not at all possible on a 2013.

There are some forum members who have added after market kits using the OEM housings. They look OEM from the outside; they just don't use the OEM switch on the inside.

They may think they've come up with a clever way to keep people from "modding" their cars, but all they've really done is open up a whole new kettle of worms: BCM Hacking. Mark my words, someone is going to do it.

I agree - probably someone like this: http://coastaletech.com/synclockpick.htm (That won't mod the BCM, yet, but it's only a matter of time).

(The question is, do you want to risk voiding your warranty for something that the dealer should be able to do anyway ...)

That looks cool, but the Focus isn't listed in any of their versions! Oversight?

And, warranty... Disconnect it before you go in. I've done it with my Edge chip in the SuperDuty for years (not anymore, warranty expired)...
