Shift knob




Started playing around on my freetime. Not finished, didn't have the right tap.
It's a slight copy of a Blox shifter knob. Haven't decided if I'm going to stamp the numbers in it yet, I left the center as machined thought the contrast might look better, will see after I get it mounted.

I bet it will get really hot in the summer though. It does look good but aren't you worried about finger prints and hand oil?

Right now just polished to 1000 grit. Still needs to be buffed and either try some Newfinish or clear coat it.

This would be my downside. I got into a car yesterday at work with a metal shift knob and about burned the crap outta my hand haha!

The heat is why i went leather, but it's soooooo hard to say no to machined shiny things.

That looks nice! I have the actual Blox and it doesn't get as hot as I thought it would. However I only ever have my hand on the shifter while I'm shifting.

I had a nice billet knob like that on my 02 si years ago... Touched it one day after leaving the movies in the middle of the day and got a 2nd degree burn on my hand. Im talking blisters baby. But it looked awesome!!! lol. I kept a rag in my cup holder "no joke" and would shift with it till it cooled down. Ps. Thats awesome that you made your own knob, wish I had the tools to make my own parts. Then when people ask you what brand that is, you can say "my brand motherF(&#$@!!!"

I had a brushed stainless steel knob in my old Lancer, I kept an old hat in the car to put over it and it still got hot (just not hot enough to burn me).
